I went hiking at the Nelson-Kennedy Ledges over the holiday weekend. I haven’t been there for years and had a good time rediscovering the nooks and crannies, wandering around trying to find the Devil’s Icebox, and for a few moments was very worried that I had actually become stuck in a particularly narrow crevasse (see the last three photos to see the tiny gap I crawled). It’s a fun time hiking, exploring, and looking at some wonderful natural rock formations.
I don’t have much more to say except: if you live in the region and haven’t visited this park, you should plan to go there. Wear good hiking shoes and clothing that can get dirty without any drama. The crevasses are very cool, so water condenses onto the rocks and ground and everything you might touch is a wet, mossy, muddy or all three…
